What is Trunnion Ball Valve ?
The trunnion ball valve also has two valve seat seals for inlet and outlet. The ball in the middle is fixed to the valve body through the upper and lower valve stems. The ball can only be turned on and off by the rotation of the valve stem. It cannot move toward the outlet like a floating ball valve because the upper and lower valve stems restrict the movement of the ball. The seat at the inlet and outlet gives the initial sealing pressure between the ball and the seat through a spring preload. The pressure of the medium pushes the valve seat seal to compress the ball and increases sealing performance of the seat. When the seat seal is worn, the seat automatically compensates for the wear part under the action of the spring, and still maintains a good seal.

The characteristics of trunnion ball valve

Since the cross section of the valve seat is a circular ring, the area of the medium pressure is smaller than the cross section of the ball, so the pressure on the seat is smaller than that of the floating ball valve. That is, the stem torque of the ball valve is reduced.

The ball of the trunnion ball valve has two upper and lower valve stems. The upper and lower valve stems fix the ball core to the valve body. The ball cannot move along the flow direction, and the seat moves to hold the ball core to achieve sealing.

The trunnion ball valve has a floating valve seat. After the medium pressure, the seat moves, so that the sealing ring is pressed tightly on the ball to ensure sealing, so it is a double-sided forced seal.

The automatic pressure relief structure, when the liquid medium retained in the valve cavity is vaporized due to the increase in temperature, so that the pressure in the middle cavity increases abnormally, the middle cavity medium can rely on its own thrust to push the valve seat and automatically release the pressure, thereby ensuring the safety of the valve.
